Printing/PDF export and speed improvements

with 13 comments

I’m pleased to announce that a new update has been deployed to Gantter with an often requested feature: printing. When you print from Gantter, you actually get a PDF file, so the other name of this feature is PDF export.

print

But that’s not all! Gantter has been carefully tweaked for speed.

The update also contains Danish translation (thanks, Anders!).

Enjoy!

MPP files support… and more

with 7 comments

An update has been deployed to Gantter. The most notable change is support of MS Project’s MPP files: now you can open them directly in Gantter! The update also contains improved IE8 support and some small fixes.

Now Gantter has its own blog

with 26 comments

Gantter is a project management tool for Project Managers of the new web era. Have you noticed that you depend on desktop applications less than you did in the past? Have you noticed that you spend most of your day in your favorite web browser because project-related communication is done there: emails, issue tracking, document collaboration, wikis and more? These days even a simple issue tracker calls itself a “Microsoft Project killer”, but (as Gantter’s success shows) the need in a good web based planning and estimation tool which has all the core features of this desktop application is strong.

Since its first public release on April 15th (just a couple of weeks ago!) Gantter has been getting new users and lots of positive reviews. Thanks to the growing community Gantter is now available in multiple languages , and I’m looking forward to see Gantter in even more languages in the nearest future (don’t see Gantter in your language? Help translate!). Lots of bugs have been fixed silently. So that each day Gantter becomes stronger even without new features added.

But now it’s time to think about the future and listen to the community. The initial vision of Gantter as a planning and estimation tool works well, but as usual, people need more. Some demand the ability to save project plan “in the cloud”. Some want to share project plans among team members. Some people want to leave the application as it is now, knowing that saving and sharing will require adding registration and login procedures. Some just ask for the ability to print the Gantt chart.

I got lots of feedback via email. Now it’s time to make the process transparent. This blog should make it easier for all of us to communicate. I’ll listen to the feedback carefully and will publish updates as soon as new features arrive.
